Our guide to watching Premier League action live in the UK and abroad

Everton retained their Premier League status by beating Bournemouth 1-0 on the final day of an engrossing campaign.

The Toffees went into the final round of fixtures knowing victory would extend their 69-year stay in the top flight and edged out the Cherries thanks to a fine Abdoulaye Doucoure strike just before the hour mark.

Sean Dyche's men needed that goal, as Leicester City won their final game at home to West Ham United 2-1 to finish just two points adrift of the Merseyside outfit. Had Bournemouth managed to find an equaliser at Goodison Park, the Foxes would have stayed up by virtue of a superior goal difference.

Leeds United were massive underdogs heading into the last-day shootout and their relegation to the EFL Championship was confirmed with a 4-1 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

Victory for Spurs wasn't enough to see them snatch a European place, however, with Aston Villa beating Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 to claim a seventh-place finish and a spot in the Europa Conference League next term. Brighton will compete in the Europa League after finishing sixth.

They'll be joined there by fifth-place finishers Liverpool, who drew their final game 4-4 with already relegated Southampton. Elsewhere, Manchester United secured third with a 2-1 win at home to Fulham, while fourth-placed Newcastle United ended a successful season with a 1-1 draw away at Chelsea. Both Uniteds had already confirmed Champions League qualification, with Fulham and Chelsea finishing tenth and 12th, respectively.

Champions Manchester City's 25-match unbeaten run came to an end away at Brentford but they still finished five points clear of runners-up Arsenal, who hammered Wolves 5-0.

Luton Town will compete in the Premier League for the first time in their history after beating Coventry City in the EFL Championship play-off final. The Bedfordshire club beat the Sky Blues 6-5 on penalties to complete a remarkable rise from playing Non-League football less than a decade ago. Luton will be joined in the top flight by Championship title winners Burnley and runners-up Sheffield United.

  • Champions: Manchester City
  • Champions League qualifiers: Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United
  • Europa League qualifiers: Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion
  • Europa Conference League qualifiers: Aston Villa
  • Relegated: Leicester City, Leeds United and Southampton
  • Promoted from the Championship: Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton Town

How to watch the Premier League: Which broadcasters will show games in the UK?

The Premier League's broadcasting deals with Sky Sports, BT Sport and Amazon Prime Video will continue until the end of the 2024/25 season meaning you'll need to subscribe to all three services if you want to watch as much live football as possible.

If you have to pick one broadcaster, Sky Sports remains your best bet as it has the rights to the largest number of games, with BT Sport continuing to show the early kick-offs on Saturdays. Amazon Prime Video has historically shown two full rounds of matches and is likely to do the same next season.

Details of how to subscribe to each service and the various packages available are provided below. If you live abroad, you can stream games live on NBC Sports in the US, DAZN in Canada and Optus Sport in Australia. All of the aforementioned services can be accessed while abroad using a good VPN service, like ExpressVPN.

How to watch the Premier League on TV in the UK: Sky Sports

If you're subscribed to Sky, then you'll need to add Sky Sports to your existing package. It will currently cost you £25/mth for a contract running 18 months. If you already have a Sky subscription, then you’re also automatically the owner of a Sky Go account, giving you access to Sky Sports, Sky Movies and other top channels such as Sky One and Sky Atlantic, along with Sky's excellent catch-up and on-demand service.

There is a catch, however. Sky Go limits you to three devices, and you can only watch one of these at any one time. If you subscribe to Sky Go Extra, however, you can register up to four devices. This costs £5 extra on top of your Sky Go subscription. You can add and remove one device each calendar month, so if you’re likely to be following the action on multiple devices, make sure you’ve planned in advance which ones you’re likely to be using at any given time.

How to watch Premier League online wherever you are: Use a good VPN service

If you're away from the country and want to follow the Premier League action live as if you were browsing from your couch, then your only way to do this is by using a virtual private network, or VPN. These cross-platform services fool your devices into thinking that you're browsing from your home country even if you're away. It's worth noting that the further you are away from your home country, the slower your streaming speeds will be.

There are many VPN services, but the one we rate most highly for streaming is ExpressVPN. It's fast and has previously been audited to prove that it doesn't log or store any user data. You can install it on your PC, Mac, Android and iOS devices and use it on five devices at the same time, which is ideal for a family or a group of friends. Apart from that, it has a wide range of servers in different countries, consistently fast speeds and offers a 30-day moneyback guarantee so you can try it out risk-free.

Another recent favourite is Surfshark VPN. Unlike ExpressVPN and NordVPN, Surfshark doesn't have any restrictions on the number of devices you can use it on. If you ever encounter a problem or need general help, you can contact its 24/7 customer support, who will promptly help you out. Despite being one of the newer VPNs on the block, it has an impressive set of features that will only get better in time. Best of all, its three-year plan is the cheapest we've seen.
